Will the real WCA please stand up #WCA13

It has come to our attention that there may be some confusion over which awards WCA refers to, so we want to add some clarity so you can reassure yourself you were at the World Communication Awards.

A few simple tests:

1. Did any of the finalists include the Bleating Heart, Cropwell Bishop Creamery, or Two Hoots Cheese? If so, there is a strong possibility that you were at the World Cheese Awards [http://worldcheeseawards.com] where the winners included Gruyère Premier Cru, Blue Stilton and Fat Bottom Girl!

2. If every award was won by Tunisia, and the evening degenerated into a fight, you were probably at the (possibly fictional) World Countries Awards

3. If you enjoyed great company of hundreds of fellow telecom professionals from around the world, entertainment from the spectacular choir and saw companies including AT&T, Orange Business Services and Tata Communications named as winners, relax you were at the World Communication Awards!

Making a #Hash of it

After the discovery that #WCA was being used by both the World Communication Awards and the World Cheese Awards, it should have come as no surprise to discover the new raison d'etre for the WCA.

Following a tweat from prolific twitterer @davidgilson sporting the #WCA tag I am led to believe that the World Communication Awards were introduced to assess whether benefit claiments are capable of working (Evening Standard article 23 Nov). Either this is a whole new side of the awards that I was never aware of, or maybe it's simply that #WCA is also being used to reflect Work Capability Assessments...

On balance, although longer, #worldcommsawards is so much safer!
