Earlier this year, we repositioned our Viewpoints section as the Knowledge Network, giving the articles greater prominence in our newsletter and on the website, and readership has gone through the roof.
But what is really interesting is to see what you read most 2014, and both number 1 and number 12 are about copper - guess that explains why we've launched Gigabit Copper for 2015!
So if you haven't read all of these articles, they make great Christmas reading...
Here in order of popularity are the top dozen viewpoints from 2014:
Leading the way, the most popular viewpoint of 2014
Published in October, by Stephen Cooke, CTO, Genesis Technical Systems - this Knowledge Network article generated more than 4 times the average readership. Read it here
If you are interested in what Adtran and CityFibre are saying, both will be speaking at Total Telecom events in 2015. Adtran are sponsors of Gigabit Copper (Munich, March 2015) and CityFibre are speaking at Connected Britain (June, London)

Today we expect everyone to be on Twitter, at least every company, it's even on our Salesforce profiles, the field that says Twitter handle, so I did a quick check against the companies of the CEO of the Year candidates for this years Asia Communication Awards.
It was quite an interesting exercise. 19 companies from 16 Asian countries, searching via Google for their main corporate Twitter account. And the results; one with more than 300,000 followers (@smartcares), one with no apparent corporate Twitter account (Roshan - although a huge number ofFacebook fans), six with more than 100,000 followers, and 4 with less than 1,000 followers.
Some you'd expect to have less presence, @pacnet for example won't have a following from the general public, but it's very interesting to see the contrast between those with huge followings and those that have only a relatively small presence - and it doesn't necessarily reflect the number of subscribers, for example Smart have over 54 million subscribers, compared to Etisalat's 6.3 million, but have only 25% more Twitter followers.
It will be interesting to see if there is any correlation between Twitter followers, and the number of votes their CEO's generate for the Asia Communication Awards....
Now that the voting is open for the 2014 CEO of the Year, several people have asked who the previous winners have been for this prestigious title, which is now into it's forth year at the Asia Communication Awards.
So, looking back at the previous years:
In 2011 we were delighted to name Mr Yue Li, the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager at China Mobile Communications as the inaugural CEO of the Year. He headed a fantastic line up for our first ever Asia Communication Awards, presented at Raffles in Singapore, which included Smart Communications being named Operator of the Year. You can view all the 2011 winners here.
In 2012 the awards dinner moved across to the larger Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore as more companies discovered the ACA.
One thing that didn't change was Smart's success, once again walking away with the Operator of the Year trophy, but this time the winners list was headed by Mr. Hu Houkun (Ken Hu) Deputy Chairman of the Board and Rotating CEO of Huawei, who also took Vendor of the Year for the second year running.
And so to 2013 with another new venue in the shape of the imposing Conrad Centennial Hotel, where the Asia Communication Awards will also be presented in 2014 [book your tickets - final night of CommunicAsia: party party party!], which saw some things change, but others stay the same. Huawei completed the hattrick, walking away with Vendor of the Year for the third consecutive year, whilst local player StarHub took the trophy for Operator of the Year. CEO of the Year went to the widely admired Vinod Kumar of Tata. You can view the entire roll of honour here.
So who will be CEO of the Year in 2014? Well that's still up to you. Voting is currently open HERE but remember you must get your vote in by the 20 April 2014. The winner will be revealed at the awards dinner in Singapore on the 19 June.

This is with the exception of: Best Regulatory Initiative where you have until the 28 March 2014 (enter this free category HERE) Best Place to Work (in Asia) where responses can be submitted until Friday 2 May 2014 (submit votes HERE)
The winners of the third annual Asia Communication Awards were revealed on the 20 June 2013 in Singapore. Here's the photo's of the winners. For the loist of winners and more news from this years CommunicAsia, read Mary Lennighan's Friday Review: White Out
In addition we'll be producing video from a studio in Marina Bay Sands and from the third annual Asia Communication Awards on Thursday night. You can watch this on the dedicated channel on Total Telecom
Votes are coming in thick and fast, but it's not yet a foregone conclusion as to who will be named CEO of the Year at this year's Asia Communication Awards.
Make sure you get your vote in before the 25 May 2013 to have your say.
The winner will be named on the 20 June 2013 at the dinner in Singapore. At the same time finalists in this years awards will find out if they have been success. Check out if you made the shortlist at www.asiacommsawards.com

Today in Singapore, it is 26 degrees, but Total Telecom hears that there may have been a gap in the agenda of the TM Forums Management World Asia, due to snow.
In a city where the lowest ever recorded temperature is 17 degrees celcius this may sound unlikely, but we have it on good authority that amongst those heading for Singapore this weekend from the UK was the CEO of the TM Forum, Martin Creaner - the man due to give the keynote Rethinking Communications at 9:10 on day 1.
Total Telecom assume a directive was offered to the assembled telecom executives of talk quietly amongst themselves, whilst 6,000 miles away the agenda was no doubt Rethinking Transportation....
We hope we won't have to do any snow contingency plans in June, when we will run the 2nd annual Asia Communication Awards in Singapore. Entry deadline 16 March 2012, FIND OUT MORE
Rupert Owen, International Director of CommunicAsia spoke to Brian Dolby about how they see the ACA as adding value the annual telecoms gathering in Singapore, as well as about other development this year, including more national and technology pavilions.
Entries for the 2012 Asia Communication Awards must be received by 16 March 2012. Find out more on the website www.asiacommsawards.com
After the discovery that #WCA was being used by both the World Communication Awards and the World Cheese Awards, it should have come as no surprise to discover the new raison d'etre for the WCA.
Following a tweat from prolific twitterer @davidgilson sporting the #WCA tag I am led to believe that the World Communication Awards were introduced to assess whether benefit claiments are capable of working (Evening Standard article 23 Nov). Either this is a whole new side of the awards that I was never aware of, or maybe it's simply that #WCA is also being used to reflect Work Capability Assessments...
On balance, although longer, #worldcommsawards is so much safer!
