Challenging the mobile eco-system #TTWW12

Companies that refuse to do things differently will eventually die. That's why the most important speakers at Total Telecom Wireless World #TTWW12 aren't necessarily the biggest names from traditional operators, but are the disruptor's, the catalysts for change.

So here's five reasons why you should attend Total Telecom Wireless World:

1. BBC - Stalwart of British broadcasting, the BBC has changed. Jane Weedon heads up Business Development for the Future Media & Technology division and will discuss: How is content consumed on different devices? How people approach content across different platforms. What does this mean for the operators? How do consumers interact with related content optimised for different devices?

2. China Telecom Europe shook up the industry when they announced their MVNO deal with Everything Everywhere. MD Yan Ou will explain what they learnt from the project as well as what they might do in the future...

3. Fast Future - if you want to know the future, you need a futurist. Rohit Talwar, CEO of Fast Future is one of the best. In his presentation he covers: Where will the next generation of business growth come from? What key socio-demographic trends will shape future market opportunities? How might changing business practices impact the demand for wireless services?

4. FonYou - winners at the recent World vendor Awards, FonYou are a unique proposition. They offer cutting edge Cloud Telephony solutions for telecom operators, but just to prove their model worked, launched their own operator! Speaker Clemens Rossberg is CFO and co-founder with an enviable international telecoms background.

5. Google - these guys don't often come last, but they do in this list! Google director, Peter Fitzgerald, talks devices, e-commerce, and tomorrows consumer....

Wireless World takes place on the 12 & 13 June in London. To book your place visit www.totaltele.com/wireless

How can mobile empower the health sector? #TTWW12

A quick search on Total Telecom reveals a steady upturn in news stories relating to the health industry, with the main focus being on companies offering services for monitoring, connected devices, and addressing secutrity issues. Few however have connected the whole health issue up in the way the forthcoming Wireless World conference will.

Nurcombe: O2 Health
The morning of Day 1 features a major session on the Opportunities Created by M2M with significant emphasis placed on mobile health. Expert speakers on this subject include the Managing Director of O2 Health, Keith Nurcombe as well as the Medical Director of conference sponsors, Fujitsu, Joel Ratnasothy.

Between them, they will explore how technology is providing a catalyst to enabling mHealth, what challenges operators face moving into mHealth provision and also give you the chance to understand how O2 have provided groundbreaking successful development and delivery of mHealth.

If mHealth is one of the M2M developments you are looking at, you really need to come along, and if you book your seat today, you'll benefit from the early booker rate.

Who’s who in telecom consulting

We are working again with Hot Telecom on a new report profiles the world’s top 37 telecom consulting firms, which account for over 90% of the industry’s total revenue.

The unchallenged market leader continues to be Accenture, with a market share of 17.8% but as telecom vendors have moved into this space, we have started to consider them in our tables. This moves Ericsson up to number 2 ahead of Alcatel-Lucent and traditional players like Deloitte and McKinsey, as illustrated by the graph below.

Stand-ard of photo's #CTIAw12

I feel a Dr. Seuss moment coming on when I look at the photos from CTIA, because if you haven't taken them on your smartphone and posted them via twitter perhaps you should. In the words of the great man "If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good"

But why are so many of the photo's of your stands? Very nice, very expensive, but what does it tell me about CTIA?

So here's a few of the the better one's I've spotted:
