Your opinion matters more than anyone's

Total Telecom are conducting our annual User Survey and your opinion is the most important. Before we get carried away, let us explain; when a media owner like Total Telecom asks for your opinion, it's very easy to ignore it and let someone else complete the survey, but the reality is we conduct this research to try to create better products, one's that you and your colleagues get value from, and the only way we can do this is by understanding what YOU want and need.

So please take five minutes to help us achieve this. the survey is short and should give us some more insight into what we should be writing about, how we should be presenting it, and what other events and solutions we should offer to help you do your job better.

All the information will be treated in confidence and the results used only in aggregate, unless you have specifically asked for more information. The more responses we get, the better the result, so please feel free to share with your colleagues, on social networks, the company intranet etc...

The survey should not take more than 5 minutes to complete, and can be found on the Survey Monkey platform at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HXJXY6K

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

p.s. don't forget - your opinion matters most!

Why must you be the Best Place to Work? #Engagement

The A-Z of telecom operators have been submitting responses for the 2013 Best Place to Work survey (#BPTW) but whilst almost every major operator from across the globe is represented, many do not have the necessary 50 employee responses to be in the running for the award.

Employee Engagement
So what makes employees want to complete a survey about their company? It certainly isn't the Total Telecom incentive (for the record - there isn't one), but it almost certainly is driven by the thorny issue of engagement.

Across the web there are experts and commentators talking about employee engagement and how it is vital for employers, but fundamentally you can summerise this by saying the best places to work have the most engaged employees, and this is because these are companies that understand and try to foster attributes including, but not limited to:

  • trying to understand what employees think and feel
  • demonstrating appreciation of the effort put in (not just money!)
  • great communication
  • commitment to employee development
So in a world where up to 40% of employees are disengaged (BlessingWhite Research 2013) it makes sense for you to be one of the companies recognised as being a great place to work.

WCA 2013
Encourage your employees to complete the Best Place to Work Survey

The winner will be revealed in front of an audience of 600 of the most senior executives in the telecom industry at the 15th annual World Communication Awards, in London on the 3 December 2013. To book your seats visit www.worldcommsawards.com

The danger of focussing on business today

I've just come across a video from KPMG's Joe Gallagher - one of the speakers at the recent Total Telecom Finance Summit.

It's over a year old, but spells out some interesting messages, including one that focusing on business today may be to the detriment of business tomorrow, a similar message to that he gave at the Finance Summit when he urged operators to "Be Brave" (see Total Telecom 10 October 2012)

Joe's comments can be applied to all parts of the Telco industry and set me wondering how brave the industry is when it comes to the key issues of network management? We'd like to hear your views for the study we are currently conducting.

User Survey: Network Management issues

Help - we need your help. Total Telecom are organising the first Network Management Show in 2013 and we are conducting a survey to discover how you feel about the subject and what you think the issues are and will be in the future.

There are just 10 questions, so it should only take a couple of minutes, but your insight is vital to improving the agenda that is put together for this event.

And the payback? We'll be putting together a report based on the finding, and all those who participate will receive a copy. Thanks for your help.

Who are you - #Telecom User Survey

Total Telecom User Survey: You know who you are (we hope), but we're not so sure and so we are asking you to complete our user survey.

Total Telecom generates visits from around 100,000 global telecom professionals every month. Many of you are registered users of the website and so we know who you are, but some people visit without having registered for our newsletter, to download a white paper or view older content, and that's one of the reasons for us to do user surveys.

We also like to ask questions about your interests and your views, and that helps us to understand they type of information and survey's we can generate that might interest you. You will notice that much of this years survey focuses on mobile issues, and this will help us frame the agenda for Total Telecom Wireless World that we will launch in 2012.

As a thank you for completing the survey, we are offering everyone who participate a 10% discount on attending our forthcoming Total Telecom World conference. As the survey should only take a couple of minutes, that's virtually Money for Nothing!

Please take a couple of minutes to complete the survey.
